Welcome to the home of the original name generator! Our site is the creative project of soon to be husband-and-wife team Emma Davies and Saxon Bullock.
You can read more. We've been making name creation tools since 1999, when we invented, and we've since expanded to feature a wide selection of fantasy name generators that will give you a well-crafted and distinctive name!
Some of our most popular pages are for and, but there's plenty more to discover if you're searching for a or a new or for gaming, forums, or social media. Visit the menu above to see our full selection of name generators! Last Updated: 12th January 2019. We have a series of different character generators that produce personality descriptions and names from different countries, including,. Click through on any link or open the menu above to see the whole list.
If you pick the US pages, you can narrow your selection by ethnicity and decade of birth, to create historically and socially accurate names. We have taken the data for our English and American names from US census data for popular first and last names throughout the last century, from the 1880s onwards to the 2000s, and from British birth record data for popular names for the last century. We also cover many international names such as, and This series of generators are mainly aimed at writers and creators who are looking to make appropriate and convincing characters. Whether you're having your first go at NanoWriMo, or you're an experienced writer in need of a quick name for that minor player you've just thought up, we aim to bring some inspiration. Especially when writing a novel or a series of stories, coming up with a fitting name for each member of your cast can be surprisingly difficult and time consuming.
We hope to make things easier by giving you the opportunity to craft an immense number of convincing potential characters with whom to populate your stories. We also provide a random personality type character generator on each page. The data for this is based on, which scores users on a five-factor scale abbreviated to OCEAN – openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. The Big Five data is the 'gold standard' of psychological research, and more up to date than other models. Emma created the second ever name generator on the internet in 1999 after a friend emailed her a link to a tool for making disco names. She found it so amusing that she taught herself how to code to make her own, and the first generator was born! She followed up a couple of years later with the first generator, and she was astonished when she discovered her site had become a meme and her colleagues were even sharing it around her own office!
In 2010 she decided to concentrate on making this website. Together, she and Saxon have created a number of other original generators, such as for unicorns and mermaids, as well as many hits, including their pages for superheroes, rappers, and various kinds of fantasy names, particularly elves!
A name generator is a free tool made for the dual purposes of inspiration and entertainment. It creates random character names that are cool and funny, and it makes useful names for businesses, babies, bands, fantasy gamers and music artists.
A name maker usually allows you to generate names that are random, or ones tailored to you based on your name, whether you are male or female. They can also return neutral gender results for people who would rather go incognito online. Name generators can also include name picker tools that allow you to find, filter and browse results based on meaning. This website is for entertainment purposes only.
Sometimes our tools create names that already exist in the real world. This is entirely unintentional and as result of chance. Please take all necessary steps to ascertain that your new name has not been taken by a real world entity before using it.
The information contained in this site is provided on an 'as is' basis with no guarantees of completeness, accuracy, usefulness, or timeliness. We bear no responsibility for the consequences of using someone else's name. We also bear no responsibility for the consequences of adopting our names in the real world, social or otherwise (your mileage may vary).
I’m still recognised as Chottanikkara Devi I was the first artiste to perform solo Mohiniyattam on Doordarshan, Thiruvananthapuram Kendra when it was launched in 1983. Later I got the opportunity to act in a teleplay aired on Doordarshan titled Kayangal, directed by CK Thomas. My second teleplay was where I debuted as a heroine as Dr Jayanthi. I feel lucky to be part of it as I could act alongside NK Achary sir, father of in it. It was a great experience to work with an actor like him when I was just in my teens. My mother was the reason behind my big screen entry, which I made through the film as Chottanikkara Devi in 1987. It was directed by Sreekumaran Thampi.
Cinema was a new medium for me then and I somehow had a dislike to it. Once, I had an accident on the set where I fell from a great height. But I consider it as a knock from goddess Shakthi to me. The role gave me recognition in the industry. It was a great honour for me when veteran actor Thikkurussi sir once rushed towards me during a function saying “ente devi alle ithu sakhshal bhagavathi anu”.
People still recognise me as Chottanikkara Devi. A transgender student in my daughter’s college recently conveyed to me that my role as Chottanikara Devi had motivated the person to have faith in God.
I had also tried a hand as a voice artiste in AIR and for several commercial ads. Then came a bunch of television soaps and a few supporting roles in films. I was the first person to introduce a dance tutorial to the Malayalam telly audience. I am not happy with my acting career To be honest, I am not happy with my acting career. I have not yet received a role which I can call my favourite character. From the mainstream, I was side-lined to smaller roles.
I had played mother roles to actors who are two to three years older to me when I was in my mid-20s. I continue to do the same now also (laughs). I didn’t go for roles, I accepted what came to me and dedicated my 100% to it. Bhuvanasundari, a glamourous evil character in the serial Hello Kuttichathan was a big break for me. It gave me the opportunity to experiment with acting.
An evil Pappammal Versus a pavam Mallika Pappammal and Mallika are my characters in the serials Krishnathulasi and Karuthamutthu respectively. Pappammal is an evil lady and the dancer in me has helped me bring out her devilish expressions. When out in the streets, people ask me two things; one, whether my hair is real and second, where I get my saris from!
Mallika, on the other hand, is someone who cries from the beginning of a schedule till the end. I sometimes cry without glycerine. She is not a suppressed woman, but the heinous acts against her loved ones forces her to change from a soft, teary mother to a fierce one, something which you see in real-life too as well.
